Dyeing & Fibre Information
Our fibres are dyed using standard commercial acid dyes. These dyes are colour and light fast. We rinse all our fibres and yarns throughly, but we recommend you wash them separately in cool water for the first wash.
Some of our fibres and yarns are "Superwash", this means they have been treated in a way that makes them resistant to felting, they can be gently machine washed. However we recommend you wash all wool products carefully by hand to increase their life.
We try to provide a good representation of colours, but as monitors and settings vary these colours will never be completely accurate.
We sell fibre as Tops and as Batts, both can easily be spun directly, but you may want to predraft the fibres for easier drafting when you come to spin. This is especially true of Tops which can become squashed together when dying. We use extra precautions, not used by all indie dyers to help prevent Top becoming compacted during dying, so you will find our fibres to be lofty and not compacted, needing little or no predrafting.
If you have any questions about our fibres or other products feel free to ask.
